Yess! Mine finally worked! I was stucked at 6:01

Use this if you're stuck at the Not Found page/Error
Hope this helps!

1. Make sure the wordpress download is inside the htdocs folder (Application folder > MAMP> htdocs)
2. Go back and delete "wp-config.sample.php ( inside htdocs)
3. You must use the name/title of the folder you created exactly in the search bar. (not the database one)
4. Finally make sure yours look something like this:

http://localhost:8888/(name of your folder) <<<<<< remove the "MAMP"

then it'll automatically look like this if done correctly

http://localhost:8888/(name of your folder)/wp-admin/install.php

Whew! Hope this helps someone!

Great tutorial. However, it doesn"t work for me. I end up with the following:

5.6.28o-/FPB82ÿ÷!€2D>J;(TNkO,+mysql_native_password!ÿ„#08S01Got packets out of order

Also, if I write localhost:8888/ it does"t work either. I have page not found. I have to change to 8889. And end up with the line above.

Can you please help ?

I am more confused than ever with WordPress and ready to give up. This sounds so convoluted and complicated…not at all what I signed up for. Do I have to install this on my macbook to access any plugins? I've been working on my site online but can't find the 'maintenance' plugin I need. I've been in help menus and searching for a few hours. Whatever happened to simple.

GiantOctopus0101 · November 5, 2017 at 7:40 am

Why is it necessary to changed the wp-config-sample.php file? I didn't and it seems to work fine. Is there a specific reason for this?
