Thanks for the tutorial!! In my case I wiped out all my cPanel info as I have been doing this on my own and I had made many mistakes… long story short I’m glad I found your guide! I had a bit of trouble with FileZilla but finally made it! Now I’m looking for information on how to create Su domains?? So to add a /blog and /shop ?? Do you have a similar tutorial for that purpose? Thanks a lot!!!!!

how do i get hostname/username and password in order to log into FZ?

Mave Rick · February 27, 2018 at 3:55 pm

I have a question. I will be impressed if you can answer it correctly. I used to upload the WordPress content directory to the Public_Html directory using the drag and drop method and up until a few years ago it was fine. Recently though, I always get failed files and duplicate files. Mostly small files or JS files. It really looks like a pattern. It is usually in the same spot where the problem occurs and if you upload it bit by bit instead of uploading the entire directory then it doesn't happen all the time. But I mean go into each folder and break it down so it does not upload too many files at the same time or it times out.

I know what I am doing so it's not a problem with my IT skills or the service I am using. I am doing everything the same way I always did it. So it forced me to use different methods like 1 click installation or unpacking it in the Tar ball method through Cpanel which is actually a lot quicker but I was curious as to why this happens. NO ONE can answer this.

great tutorial ..

Chetan Bathija · February 27, 2018 at 3:55 pm

Alternatively, using CPanel , you can navigate to file manager and goto public_html and directly drag n drop the wordpress zipped file and extract there. A good alter to using File Zilla.

This is great but I've got stuck… On FileZilla – I can find the WordPress folder in my downloads… but I cannot drop it into the Remote Site on the right hand side as I am "Not connected to any server"… (I'm connected on the left side though). Can anyone help please? Thanks so much
