Mostly correct technically speaking regarding contacting THAT server, but you can not trust the sales man in that chain.

i mean… most customers, specially most elder ppl, are not familiar with internet, they don't know who or what verisign, for example is. The browser says it is and my homemade is not. That's bullshit. like said, nothing wrong with certificates but ppl who misuse them. It's all about the $.

self signed is not any less or more secure, if you are using it correctly. Gun is not bad, the user might be.
